Prairie
- Located ten blocks west of the Courthouse Square, this
71 acres of tall grass prairie has never been disturbed
by plow. Now part of the nature Conservancy, the Prairie
abounds in native vegetation and animal life. Rare plants
and animals and many species of birds and insects live in
the tall grass of Baker's Prairie.
Bear
Creek Springs Trout Farms & Gift Shops
- US HWY 62-65 offers Rainbow trout fishing. No license
and no limit; equipment is furnished free, or you can use
your own. Fish are cleaned and packed in ice for free, and
you pay only for what you catch.
Boone
County Historic Museum (in Harrison) - This
three story museum houses one of the most impressive collections
of historical artifacts in Arkansas. Families in the counties
surrounding Harrison, some with roots back to territorial
times, have donated priceless articles to this amazing museum.
Don't plan on a quick tour through the many theme rooms
in the Boone County Historic Museum. From music to medicine,
each room contains so many wonderful collections, you will
feel as if you lived through centuries of rich Ozark history
when you tour this exceptional museum. Open: Tuesday through
Saturday, May - October, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Nominal admission
fee. Central and Cherry Streets in Harrison.
Boone County Historical & Railroad
Society - The Society operates the Boone
County Heritage Museum, publishes the Boone County Historian
containing genealogical data and general Boone County area
history and Oak Leaves reporting historical information
about the Missouri and Arkansas Railroad. Annual and permanent

Harrison
City Parks - The Minnie Harris and Crooked
Creek Parks are two lovely city parks located two blocks
south of the town square on Main Street. Walkways along
the creek, picnic tables and playgrounds offer fun and relaxation
for all. Stifflers Spring, located in the bend of Crooked,
features resting benches and a sun dial. Sidewalks allow
a stroll along the levee with relaxing views of the Spring
and downtown Harrison in these lovely parks along the banks
of Crooked Creek.

Historic Cemeteries - Rose Hill Cemetery,
located on Hwy. 7 a mile north from Historic Harrison Courthouse
Square, is the oldest cemetery in Harrison, dating back
to the 1870's. Maplewood Cemetery, located in northeast
Harrison, is the showplace of the Ozarks in the fall. Maple
trees in the cemetery grounds glow with red, orange and
yellow leaves. Cemetery Index - An index to the cemeteries

Theater in Harrison - This historic theater
featured the first talky shown in Harrison in November 7,
1929. The theater, in Harrison's Downtown Square, is now
home to live theatrical and musical performances.
Main Street Harrison Historic Walking
Tour - Plan on spending a wonderful day
exploring Harrison's Historic town Square, strolling through
the lovely downtown parks and discovering the many historic
and natural attractions of Harrison, the Crossroads of the
Ozarks. Enjoy shopping at an original Ben Franklin store,
clothing and shoe stores and Sims Drug located in Harrison's
lovely town square. The historic Lyric theater, The Boone
County Courthouse, built in 1909; The Old Boone County Jail,
built in 1914; the People's Bank, where armed outlaw Henry
Starr was shot and killed in 1921 in an attempted robbery;
and the beautiful Hotel Seville with its magnificent Spanish/Moorish
design are just a few of the wonderfully preserved sites
you will visit on your tour of Main Street Harrison. Historic

Year Flood Mural - The First National Bank
- Berryville buidling, on East Rush Avenue and Walnut Street,
houses a mural depicting the May 7, 1961, 100 year flood
that ravaged three-fourths of the town square and caused
$5.4 million in property loss.
Fishing,
Water Sports and Canoeing - Five major lakes,
Bull Shoals, Norfork, Table Rock, Beaver and Taneycomo,
are all within an hour's drive from Harrison and offer bass,
pike, trout and other game fishing; sailing, skiing and
diving in their clear mountain waters. The White River offers
world-famous trout fishing and the Buffalo
River is renowned for its beautiful scenery, fabulous
canoeing and smallmouth bass. Crooked Creek runs through
downtown Harrison, culminating in Lake Harrison, and is
also known for its smallmouth bass fishing. A lighted river
walk makes Lake Harrison a great feature for family activities.
